Common questions
How do I quit AniMates properly?
Right-click the AniMates icon in the taskbar corner and choose Quit. Your own desktop picture comes back. Closing it any other way, from Task Manager for example, can leave its last frame on the desktop; start AniMates again and quit it from the icon to clear it.
The wallpaper sits on top of my icons, or doesn't show
Big Windows updates sometimes change how the desktop is put together. Quit AniMates and start it again. If that doesn't fix it, write to us with your Windows version.
The weather isn't showing
Check your home city in Settings › Home and weather. The weather comes from Open-Meteo every 15 minutes, so a new city can take a moment, and it needs the internet.
My licence key isn't accepted
Paste it exactly as it is in the email, with its dashes. A key can be used on a set number of PCs; free one with Remove from this PC on a PC you don't use any more. If a PC is gone for good, write to us and we'll free its place.
How do I take the bench off my lock screen?
Turn off the lock screen option in Settings and your own picture goes back. Do this before you uninstall, so the last frame isn't left behind.
Does it slow my PC down?
It's built to stay out of the way: it pauses whenever it's covered, can pause on battery, and Eco mode halves its frame rate. If it feels heavy, turn on Eco and tell us about your PC.
How do I delete my data?
Everything AniMates keeps lives on your PC, in %APPDATA%\AniMates. Settings › About › Start over puts every setting back; uninstalling and then deleting that folder removes the rest. Once accounts arrive, you'll be able to delete your account and everything in it from the app. More in our privacy policy.
